BOOK ROOM NOW

If you need a place to escape, to sit and take a breath, then this is it. The Iveagh Gardens has been around since 1863 providing refuge to city dwellers. Originally part of the Iveagh Estate (Guinness people) it was a private park until the 90’s and the conservation of some of its features began in 1995.

It has a genuine “secret garden” effect to it and the hum of the city is barely audible in the park.

It has an amazing array of monuments, sunken gardens, fountains and flora (some of the rose in the park were planted in the late 19th century).

Take a break: Grab supplies locally and find a small plot of grass at lunch time to relax.

11am Sunday 19e May 2013: Family Day – A national celebration of the diversity of families.

Family Day fills the beautiful Iveagh Gardens with song, danse, musique, magic, arts and crafts workshops, sports, contes, peinture de visage, games and festivities for children of all ages.

Iveagh Gardens Concerts July 2013

Imelda May, 11e July Thursday 8pm

Inspired by the ghosts of Elvis Presley, Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent, the twang of Elmore James, the pathos of Billie Holiday and the swagger of Wanda Jackson, Imelda May is a Liberties girl whose self-belief and self-penned songs have taken her to international stardom. Imelda began performing in clubs when she was 16 years old and after fifteen years of singing in other peoples bands Imelda finally took the plunge and set up her own band in 2006. Her albums have reached multi-platinum status and she was the first Irish woman in 14 years to get to #1 in the album charts with her album Love Tattoo.

The Beast In Its Tracks, the new album from renowned Moscow, Idaho born singer-songwriter Josh Ritter, will be released March 1st on Yep Roc in Ireland. Ritter has a long established relationship with Irish audiences having spent early parts of his career touring the country and as his popularity increased, becoming a regular at larger venues, Big Tops and Festivals.

Of the new record, Ritter says, “In the year after my marriage ended, I realized that I had more new songs than I’d ever had at one time. Far from the grand, sweeping feel of the songs on So Runs the World Away, these new songs felt like rocks in the shoe, hard little nuggets of whatever they were, be it spite, remorse, or happiness.”

See insert in advance CD booklet for complete artist notes.

This is the sixth full-length recording from Ritter, who has been widely heralded by critics and fans alike for the albums The Golden Age Of Radio, Hello Starling, The Animal Years, The Historical Conquests Of Josh Ritter and 2010’s So Runs The World Away.

Ritter & The Royal City Band will celebrate the release of The Beast In Its Tracks with a North American tour set to kick off in Dallas on March 13; they return to Ireland for shows in July continuing Ritter’s tradition of journeying into the heartland where he has seemingly built up loyal followings in very corner.
